Chicago Tall Building
(1880-1920)
Main Features:
About: The Chicago Tall Building style came about due to advances in construction technology which used steel framing, allowing for buildings to be built taller and taller. Many of the tallest skyscrapers use this form of structural framing, ornamented with a curtain wall that is suspended from the framing, giving no structural support at all. The curtain wall merely acts as the aesthetic of the building. |
