About: Through England's picturesque movement (an aesthetic between beauty and sublime), the United States, reinterpreted the style to create something completely unique to the United States. Buildings for all purposes were being built in the Italianate style, making the Italianate the most popular style to build in. The designs were dimensional and multifunctional in terms of material and they could be made to fit any budget. Ornament became quite popular due to the ease of quickly and affordably producing cast-iron and press-metal decorations. |
