About: Romanesque styles borrowed from the European Middle Ages (c. 900 to 1200) were brought to the United States with the help of Henry Hobson Richardson. He utilized many of the elements from the Middle Ages and created a unique American style that was heavily rusticated and composed of large scale Romanesque forms. The Romanesque style was especially suited for grand public buildings. |
